This cableway has been in operation since March 11, 1995. The cabins pass over the forest to link the town center with Mount Penha, 617 m above sea level. The journey takes 10 minutes, during which time you can admire one of the region's most beautiful landscapes and religious monuments. Mount Penha is home to the Nossa Senhora do Carmo sanctuary. There's also a leisure park, caves, mountain bike and hiking trails, a mini-golf course, a campsite and a petiscos restaurant.

Return ticket €7.50 (€4 one-way). Open daily from 10 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., 5:15 p.m. in autumn/winter only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Bicycles can board at the rear.

The Guimarães cable car links the city of Guimarães to the Penha mountain. It is framed between historical heritage and the tranquillity of nature. Opened to the public on March 11, 1995, it was Portugal's first suspended transport system.
The line is around 1,600 meters long, with a 632-meter difference in altitude, and has 40 cabins, 8 of which are suitable for transporting bicycles. The journey takes 10 minutes, during which you'll enjoy a magnificent view of the city of Guimarães and access to the natural heritage of the Penha mountain, where you'll find the sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, leisure parks, must-see caves, camping, mini-camping golf, mountain bike circuits and a tavern where you can sample the best traditional specialties.
