BRAGA CATHEDRAL
The oldest cathedral in Portugal, with elements of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles in Braga.
This cathedral, the oldest in Portugal, was for a long time the most important religious reference in the country. It has elements of Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Of the original construction (11th century), only the south portal and part of the main portal, decorated with scenes from the Roman de Renart, remain. Inside are the tombs of Henry of Burgundy, Count of Portucale, and his wife Teresa de Leão, the parents of King D. Afonso Henriques, and the archbishops who contributed to the greatness of the city.
