The history of the market of Barcelos begins in the 15th century. It was then an annual event. Today, it takes place every Thursday at the Campo da República. Despite the influx of tourists, it is a market that has remained rural and authentic. Farmers from the neighboring villages come to sell their products (food and handicrafts): pottery, crockery, lace, baskets... and the famous roosters. Noisy and colorful, this market is one of the most important in Portugal. Not to be missed to discover the atmosphere of a typical market, full of color and life.

Il ne faut pas rater le marché du jeudi à Barcelos. Beaucoup de monde, donc difficile de se garer , je suggère de se rabattre sur les ruelles adjacentes. Par contre, une fois sur place, on n'a plus envie d'en repartir. Il y a toutes sortes de produits : charcuteries, viandes, pains (à essayer) et pâtisseries (à goûter aussi), articles de cuisine, fruits, légumes, broderies, ... la liste est trop longue. Il faut vraiment y aller, les commerçants portugais y sont adorables ! Une astuce : achetez au marché tout ce qu'il vous faut pour pique-niquer et allez déguster le tout sur l'un des bancs de la place qui jouxte le marché.

Marche immense où la journée passe à une vitesse incroyable! Vous y trouverez de tout!!!! Des vêtements, habits, souvenirs, des meubles, des fruits légumes, poterie, des animaux vivants, bref vous ne repartirez pas sans rien acheter!!!

Marché très typique du Portugal le jeudi
On y trouve de tout : fruits, vêtements, tissus, cierge, volailles vivantes, fleurs etc...
Il est très coloré, les commerçants sont très accueillants
Ça vaut vraiment le détour
Et bien sûr sur la place on trouve le coq de BARCELOS
