Mount Santa Luzia dominates the city. On top of this mountain is the Basilica of Santa Lucia, a big grey neo-Byzantine cake from the beginning of the century which looks like the Sacred Heart of Montmartre, only smaller. Beautiful road to reach it, intimate and lined with pines and eucalyptus, a delight of smells and visions! The panorama is superb, with Viana do Castelo but especially in the distance and so close at the same time, the ocean and the sandy beaches. Access possible on foot, by car or by cable car.

Depuis la basilique de Santa Luzia la vue sur Viana do Castelo et la mer est imprennable. La basilique est moderne, assez imposante d'extérieur mais de petites dimensions d'intérieur. Veuillez bien respecter le caractère sacré du lieu, toujours sauvegardé par quelques fidèles présents dans la basilique. A l'extérieur, il y a un parc et des tables de pique-nique derrière la basilique.

Le phare de la ville de Viana. Point de vue magnifique! Y monter à pied ou avec le funiculaire car en voiture c'est souvent compliqué!
L'église est une copie du sacré-cœur de Montmartre.
Ne pas hésiter à se balader derrière le monument. Il y a des ruines d'un site romain qui commencent à être mises en valeur!

Belle petite basilique qui vaut surtout pour le magnifique point de vue qu'offre son promontoire. Accès possible à pied (pour les plus courageux) ou en voiture car le funiculaire est actuellement en panne.

Indispensable à la visite de la ville. Depuis les hauteurs de la Basilique on domine la ville et on découvre le fleuve, les côtes et ses plages ainsi que la ville. On peut venir via le téléphérique ou en voiture. L'entrée de la petite basilique est gratuite.

Once it high you will be offered a picture souvenir... you can reach it by ferry, by car or on foot if courage you!
