SAINT BENEDICT SHRINE OF THE OPEN DOOR
Sanctuary at the gates of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, offering a sublime panorama and hosting a chapel erected in one year.
This sanctuary is located in Rio Caldo, at the entrance of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, and offers a sublime panorama. It is preferable to visit it by car as its access, at a height, is not easy otherwise. The site of the São Bento da Porta Aberta Sanctuary began as a chapel (adorned with beautiful tiles) erected in one year, in 1614, so that the local Christians could have a place of worship. The sanctuary as you will discover it dates from the 19th century.
