The two religious buildings in Basseville are worth a visit. The Church of Our Lady of the 8th, 15th and 17th centuries is a stone building, recognizable by its bulb-shaped dome. The entrance is through a bell tower-porch of square section. A triumphal arch of ogival shape separates the choir from the nave. Some of the rooms inside (lectern, tabernacle, paintings) are classified.
The Saint-Richer chapel (next to the gîte de la cour Saint-Richer) is built on a flint base and respects the Augeron architecture with wooden panels. The trapezoidal roof is lined with boards supporting a bell tower. Remarkable rural church, still frequented by pilgrims who come to implore Saint Richer, known for curing fever. The chapel is open every first Sunday in August for a religious serviceDid you know? This review was written by our professional authors.
