LE FESTIVAL DU KHAREEF
Go there and contact
It is held every summer from mid-July to the end of August, when the Salalah region changes its face and dons its beautiful green mantle. It is a great time to see Omani and foreign artists at work. Theatre, dance performances, promotion of local cultural heritage, games, etc. The days are long and the nights very short during these summer months! While the tropical showers refresh the atmosphere, the festival offers a glimpse of the cultural heritage of the south, through an anthology of traditional dances and music. Craftsmen show you how to make incense censers, as well as the process of preparing "Luban" incense. Cooks concoct specific dishes, including the famous "Modhbi": a dish based on marinated and spicy meat, cooked in the heart of hot stones. Visitors have henna motifs applied to them... The main attractions take place in the Baladiya Exhibition Centre, along Atin Road, in the Cultural Centre, as well as in the streets of the city. The use of the Salalah Theatre has increased the capacity of this festive moment. On this occasion, the locals put on their best traditional clothes. It is an enchantment of music and colors that sweeps over the city for a month and a half! During this period, it is advisable to book your accommodation well in advance, as the region is taken by storm by travellers from all over the Gulf who come to get a bit of fresh air.
