GOVERNOR'S PALACE - CHANGING OF THE GUARD
The official residence of the Governor General of the Bahamas, with a statue of Christopher Columbus in the middle of the staircase.
If you're lucky enough to be there on the right Friday (exact dates: www.bahamas.fr), don't forget your camera or smartphone. Since 1801, this has been the official residence of the Governor General of the Bahamas, the Queen's representative. Don't expect a Buckingham Palace-style changing of the guard either, but that remains to be seen. A statue of Christopher Columbus stands in the middle of the stairs leading up to the building, erected in 1830 to commemorate the discovery of the archipelago.
