Born and raised in Japan, chef Matsuhisa studied in Tokyo sushi bars before flying to Lima, Peru. After crisscrossing the globe, he opened his first restaurant in Los Angeles in 1997. His imagination fuelled by his discovery of the world and his classical training created the basis for his imaginative dishes ranging from Matsuhisa's Sashimi salad to Toro sashimi with jalapenos to black cod which was featured in Food & Wine magazine. Nobu Matsuhisa is considered one of the world's top chefs in his category.
