You can climb up the cliff behind the Ounianga Kebir school, having made your intention clear to those around you to avoid any misunderstanding (the military are touchy and get offended at every turn!). The blue waters of the lake come into view, surrounded by the green of the date palms, and the red of the massifs in the background... A real feast for the eyes! A few ducks cackle above the lake, while frightened little swallows flee from their nests dug into the cliffs as you pass.
