PERM-36
Perm-36 is a former Gulag transformed into a memorial of the political repressions as early as 1990. The museum is located in the village of Kuchino, 100 km east of Perm. To get there take a bus from the bus station in Perm to the town Chusovoy (Kuchino stop). The complex is divided into two areas: the area of strict regime and the area of special regime. The first buildings appeared in 1946 to hold a total of 500 prisoners. In 1972, the colony was reorganized to accommodate state criminals. The prison was abolished in 1988.
