SAN MARTIN CHURCH
A church to discover in the heart of one of France’s most beautiful villages.
At the northern entrance to the village, Saint-Martin church was founded in 1642 by Gilonne de Goyon-Matignon, widow of Pierre I de Harcourt, Marquis de Beuvron. Although seemingly insignificant, the church is steeped in history and boasts a main altar dating from 1737, decorated at the corners with shells, and listed as a Monument Historique. It also features a Louis XVI-style pulpit dating from 1859 by the Lexovian sculptor Lemainier, and beautiful historic stained-glass windows dating from 1924 and signed by Louis Barillet. For several years now, the building has been undergoing renovation sponsored by the Fondation du Patrimoine.
