Highest point of the Altai (4,509 m). Although its ascent is reserved for experienced mountaineers, the massif is dotted with hiking routes lasting several days (equipment and food must be provided), notably via the Akkem and Kutcherla lakes and the Kara-Turek pass (3,060 m). Rafting from Tiungur on the Kutcherla River, a valley where Scythian petroglyphs can be admired. Base camp at Akkem Lake (with small catering + banya). Agencies organize sports trips (horseback riding, etc.). Expect a wild and grandiose environment!
