ASSUMPTION MONASTERY
The Uspensky Orthodox Men's Monastery (of the Assumption) is a recent architectural complex, dedicated in 2016. It was built around the ruins of the old one, built in 1873 and destroyed during the Stalinist period. You walk through the wooded park to a pretty wooden building, the Church of the Holy Prince-Oleg-Bryansk. In the centre is the long blue and white fraternal building, remains of the monastery of yesteryear. You will discover three other churches, including the dazzling temple dedicated to the icon of the Tsarita (pyramidal shape): it is a rare example of a contemporary flamboyant Byzantine style. In addition to the richness of the liturgical objects (and the number of faithful engaged in the maintenance of the place), you will notice the frescoes, created by local artists. In the reception building there is an exhibition room dedicated to Siberian craftsmanship. Several events are organized each year: in June, a bell contest; in July, a floral art festival.
The monastery is located on the banks of the Yenisseï: a short path leads you to a micro beach, which urban families like to frequent (ducks, footbaths, waterfront walks and kites...). You can admire the relief of Stolby National Park and the taiga right in front of you. After the visit, go to the panoramic restaurant Mon Paris, to drink tea or taste its amazing French cuisine. This is an opportunity to visit the amazing private city of Udachny, built in the 2000s.
