The Drama Theatre, one of the oldest in Siberia, founded in 1882, has an interesting past: it hosted the singer Lyubov Andreeva-Delmass, to whom the poet Alexander Blok dedicated his lyric cycle, Carmen. The name of the writer Vassily Yan (1874-1954), known in Russia through his historical novels, Genghis Khan, Batu, etc., is also associated with this theatre. Commemorative plaques are affixed to the theatre building and to the house where he lived.
