CENTRE DE CULTURE BOURIATE
The Ivolguinsky Buddhist Monastery is located 30 km from Ulan-Ude, in the Ivolga Valley. It is the center of Buddhist culture in Russia and the residence of the Pandito Khambo Lama, the leader of Russian Buddhists. The monastery was allowed to open in 1945, after the period of religious repression in the USSR. Since 1991, it has also been home to the non-governmental Daschi Choinkhorlin University, where monks and specialists in Buddhist culture are trained. The monastery also offers medical treatment according to the traditions of Tibetan medicine. Many Russians come here for these treatments, as they have been influenced by Asian Buddhist culture. The Ivolguinsky Buddhist Monastery is a place of spirituality and culture not to be missed on your visit to Irkutsk.
