GURTLERHOFT
Private hotel in Strasbourg offering a menu of copious and caloric dishes, a baeckeoffe with 3 meats
In an old mansion, seat of the provost of the great cathedral chapter in the Middle Ages, this restaurant has preserved beautiful 12th century vaulted stone cellars, which give it a lot of cachet and originality. The canons used to store their wines there and today it is still praised for its beautiful Alsatian vintages. Warm and quite pleasant although quickly a little noisy, the address offers on its menu all the regional classics and must-sees for small and large appetites with hearty and caloric dishes like ham au gratin with munster cheese. The room is spacious but intimate. You can easily opt for a three-meat baeckeoffe marinated in Alsace wine. This Alsatian potée made of beef, pork and lamb, marinated in Alsatian white wine, cooked with vegetables and potatoes in a terrine, is a must in the region and is here well made and served copiously.
