LA CASE DE L’ÎLE BOURBON
Restaurant at the end of the Grand-Rue offering traditional Creole cuisine.
Bourbon Island is the former name of the French department of Reunion Island. Not surprisingly, this restaurant located at the end of Grand-Rue, on the station side, offers traditional Creole cuisine, spicy but not too spicy, so as not to damage the most sensitive palates. As a starter, acras and doughnuts, followed by massaged curry, shrimp curry (with ginger and turmeric) or cod rougail or smoked sausage. And for dessert: coconut pie or flambéed bananas. Not to mention the ti'punch, of course! The advantage of the place? All the classics of Reunion Island cuisine are there, presented in a very simple but copious way. A somewhat old-fashioned setting and a rather moody service.
