In their new building to the silkscreen windows, between Esplanade and Neudorf, next to the Ship, the Archive Archives preserves centuries of history of the communes and parishes of the department. Eleven centuries of public, private, associative, family or professional documents, eleven centuries of civil registers, notarial acts, decrees and minutes of municipal councils, which are based on 30 km of linear lines, Strasbourg-Haguenau by car! To satisfy the curiosity of researchers and genealogists!

The most: access to the reading room, archivists and documents is free upon presentation of an ID. The least: unfortunately, exhibitions are rare. Only solution: the website where parents and teachers will easily find what to teach children.

Archives de Strasbourg au top pour toutes vos recherches généalogique le personel est présent et sympathique, belle exposition "Le Rouge et le Noir : État, religions et société en Alsace du Concordat à nos jours".

You have to leave bags/items in a locker (1E), but if you want to make copies you will need change. Only due to a very kind staff librarian, we were able to find my great-great-great grandmother's records. The old style handwriting is very challenging to read, you will need help.
