Church becoming a place for concerts, conferences, theaters and exhibitions
According to the remaining sources, the church of Saint-Pierre-Le-Vieux would be the first Christian cultural building in Strasbourg, built near the Roman castel of Argentoratum. What we see nowadays dates from the end of the 14th and beginning of the 15th century. During the annexation of Strasbourg by Louis XIV, it was dedicated to two cults: the nave to the Protestants and the choir to the Catholics. Following a drastic fall of the parishioners, the church became a venue for concerts, conferences, theatres and exhibitions. A very beautiful historical heritage is visible there: Gothic rood screen of 7 bays, large relief in polychrome carved wood from 1520, paintings of the south and west tribunes retracing the life of Christ...
