Civil hospital replacing an old one with galleries, fortifications, cellars preserved and containing wine treasures
The new civil hospital extends over 90,000 m2 and has five levels. More than 2,700 people work there, and patients now benefit from a well-kept, personalized and modern environment. The old hospital, its pavilions, its 12th century gate, its fortifications and its cellars have been partly preserved because they bear witness to Strasbourg's rich past and the place reserved for medicine throughout the centuries. We will linger especially in its cellars, full of wine treasures such as the oldest wine in the world dating from 1472... The galleries, which can be visited, are impressive, some are 13 meters wide and 7 meters high!
