UNIVERSITY PALACE
This University Palace, built during the German annexation by Otto Warth, was inspired by the Italian Renaissance.
Built during the German annexation by Otto Warth, the Palais Universitaire echoes the Italian Renaissance. It was inaugurated by Kaiser Wilhelm I in 1884. The hall is a square aula, covered by a glass roof enclosed on either side by two storeys of arcades. The first session of the Council of Europe was held here in 1949. The building houses the faculties of history, art history, archaeology, visual arts and Catholic and Protestant theology. The "Palais U" also houses rich collections, including those of the Musée des Moulages.

Si vous vous trouvez dans le gigantesque hall, ouvrez l'oeil : le sol est surprenant, et réserve des surprises ... Une triste marque du passé, souvenir de la 2nde Guerre Mondiale. Un sol historique !
