ADOLF MICHAELIS MUSEUM
Museum housing several ancient objects, with old photographs, and plaster copies of Greek sculptures
The Institute of Classical Archaeology of the University of Strasbourg includes an important museum since its foundation in 1872 by Professor Adolf Michaelis. This collection consists of several hundred antique objects, nearly 2,000 antique photographs and several hundred plaster copies of Greek, Roman and Near Eastern sculptures in a part called the gypsum library, on display on the ground floor of the University Palace. It is the Association of Friends of the Adolf Michaelis Museum (A.M.A.M.M.) created in 2015 that works for these presentations, the restoration of the pieces, and which proposes many events around which the program is on the Internet.
