GOTHIC GARDEN OF THE MUSEUM OF NOTRE-DAME DE L'OEUVRE NOTRE-DAME
Gothic garden at the Musée de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame in Strasbourg, inspired by medieval precepts
Designed to evoke medieval Paradiesgärtlein, the Musée de l'Œuvre Notre-Dame's Gothic Garden was created in 1937 by Hans Haug, founder of the museum of the same name. The garden is inspired by the precepts of the medieval period. Located on the site of a former courtyard, the garden features nine rectangular modules grouping together various types of plants: medicinal, condiment and ornamental. Funerary slabs can be discovered on the south side.
