We celebrate in Buryatia, as in Mongolia and China, the Lunar New Year (first moon of the year). The festivities last for a whole month. Since 1990, the first day of the year is registered. In bouriate, this party is called Tsagaan Sar, which means "white month." The festival is celebrated in datsan and family. New Year's gift (khadak) must be white (money). This month we prepare dishes based on white foods (milk, cream, white cheese, rice), pozy, etc. Those who come home are invited to stay there for the whole month!
