This museum was built in 1891 for the visit of Tsarevich Nicholas Romanov. A pavilion was urgently built to house photographs, minerals, nuggets, maps of the local mines, etc. Nicholas went away but the museum remained (emptied of its gold). It now exhibits fine arts, indigenous artifacts, for example from the Nanaimo people. A complete view of the history of the region is offered. Flat: the USSR section, not very exciting.
