GEORGIAN RUGBY UNION
The Georgian Rugby XV Federation is a member organization of the International Rugby Board (IRB), which governs the organization of rugby XV in Georgia. It brings together clubs, associations, athletes, coaches and referees to contribute to the practice and development of XV rugby throughout Georgia. The federation was founded in 1964 and was recognized by the International Rugby Board in 1992, following Georgia's independence. Although rugby is not as popular as soccer in Georgia, it is a very popular sport, particularly during matches between Georgia and Russia. The federation is currently chaired by Gocha Svanidze.
