DJVARIS MAMA CHURCH
The church features frescoes depicting several historical scenes and an outdoor baptismal pool.
The Jvaris Mama church, "Father of the Cross", which adjoins the Norashen church, has a certain historical dimension: it was once home to monks returning from Jerusalem. It takes its name from this: in Jerusalem, a Georgian church is called Holy Cross. In Georgian, mama means father. Originally built in the5th century , its remains date back to the 16th century, and it was last restored in 1825. Take a look at the frescoes, depicting a number of historical scenes. The basin outside is dedicated to baptisms.
