MAMA DAVITI CHURCH
This Mama Daviti church, built into the cliffs, can be reached by walking up Rue du 9-Avril just before the Parliament building.
You can see it in the distance, leaning against the cliffs. This is the Mama Daviti church, named after Father David, who was responsible for the spread of Christianity in Georgia. You can reach this superb site by walking up 9-April St, just before the Parliament building (9 Aprili St). Saint David's Church, along with the small Transfiguration Chapel, was built in the second half of the 19th century. The site is best known for its Pantheon. The necropolis contains the graves of illustrious Georgian and Russian artists and personalities.
