ST. MIKHAIL TVERSKOY CHURCH
Russian church in the heart of the Matsminda district, with a bulbous bell tower and an icon dedicated to the Romanov family.
From Rustaveli, you'll see an unusual sight: the bulbous steeple of the Russian church of St. Michael of Tver. Located in the heart of the Mtatsminda district, not far from the Rustaveli metro station, it can be reached via the narrow streets. It was erected by the last Viceroy of the Caucasus in 1913. Since then, the ecclesiastical authorities have turned it into a Georgian church, but a Russian icon remains, dedicated to the Romanov family! The last Russian trace in Tbilisi.
