QUEEN DAREDJANE'S PALACE
This charming little palace overlooking Tbilisi belonged to Queen Darédjane, wife of King Irakli.
The palace of Queen Darédjane, wife of King Irakli II, rises above the Riké esplanade, perched on the Métékhi rock. It was built in 1784, and the queen also had the small Church of the Transfiguration built next to it. The building was severely damaged by the Persians in 1795, but was subsequently restored. The location is charming, overlooking Tbilisi. The palace was being renovated when we visited in the summer of 2024, but the church can still be visited.
