In the old days, the atmosphere was very different. The museum is housed in the Artsrouni caravanserai, the oldest in Tbilisi. It is said that since its construction in 1650 by King Rostom, it was the most populated place in the whole city; destroyed in 1795, it was rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century.
