BARATASHVILI STREET
This busy thoroughfare on the Place de la Liberté is dotted with beautiful buildings and churches.
From Freedom Square, Baratashvili Street winds its way down to the eponymous bridge, skirting the old city walls. This busy thoroughfare marks a contrast between old Tbilisi and more modern Tbilisi. On the old town side, the street is very picturesque, with stores, beautiful houses with balconies in different styles and tourist restaurants. Some of the buildings date back to the XIXᵉ century. On the other side of the thoroughfare, there are buildings from the 1950s and 1960s built in a much more homogeneous style.
