Sabourtalo, literally «where one plays the ball», is the largest district in Tbilisi. It was erected in the years 1960-1970 to welcome the arrivals of the rural exodus. It is now the most populous area, especially as its administrative district includes Vaké. It is one of Tbilisi's modern centres, welcoming universities, institutes, television houses and certain commercial facilities. It is a typically Soviet quarter, more than others, built without charm according to a rectangular plane.
From the Philharmonie, you need to descend Kostava avenue, to a huge place in the strong car traffic, recently redone (and pride of Tbilisi City Hall). This is the Place des Héros. On the left side of this place, which circulates many, the monument to the dead of the war in Abkhazia. In front, Kostava Avenue resumes to Climb in Sabourtalo.
We first arrive at Adjara hotel, during the Ivéria hotel. It is a valuable point of focus. He housed one of the most rated discos of the 1990 s, which the Saakashvili government closed for drug cases. Behind Adjara, Gamsakhourdia Avenue, which loop Sabourtalo. The area extends long along the large avenues which leave left perpendicular to Gamsakhourdia. The main one is Vaja Pchavéla Avenue.
There is nothing special to see in Sabourtalo, if not to discover a city plan to Soviet. The area has several options for accommodation and restoration, and you may be tempted to go to it.
