It's a piece of the Orient, with refined Moorish decorations. The building offers a beautiful and unusual image. The opera house, originally named Opéra du Caravansérail, opened its doors in 1851. Burnt down in 1874, it was rebuilt by the German architect Schroter. It was also formerly known as the Imperial Theatre of Tiflis (formerly Tbilisi). The opera house has been the venue for concerts and ballets featuring the most famous artists. Attending an opera in such a grandiose setting is a unique experience!
