ROUSTAVELI NATIONAL THEATER
Large theater in neo-rococo style with a sumptuous performance hall complete with rococo ceiling.
The city's grand theater was built between 1899 and 1901 in neo-rococo style. At the beginning of the 20th century, the theater was home to the Tchimérioni café, which brought together the poets of the symbolist Blue Horn group. Most of the theater's frescoes were removed during the Soviet era. The café is now housed in the theater's dressing rooms. The performance hall, with its rococo ceiling and red velvet seats, is sumptuous.
