1200 meters into the forest above Gourdjaani, the 8th-century Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God is the only example of a double-domed church in Georgia. The road leading to it leaves the Gourdjaani-Telavi road on the left. As you enter Gourdjaani, a sign (in red Georgian) reads "Khvelatsminda, Church of All Saints". Inside, the arches and domes are made of brick, and the decor is fairly sober. Set in the middle of a forest, this site is off the beaten track, but it exudes a certain harmony.
