SAINT-GEORGES BASILICA
A slender, elegant Armenian church, flanked by a belfry tower, with a terrace overlooking the town's surroundings.
Originally, it was an Armenian church (an element far from claimed by Georgians) built in the 18th century. Sleek and elegant, flanked by a belfry tower and situated on a terrace set into the fortifications, its architecture contributes to Sighnaghi's distinctive allure. Unpretentious, made of brick and rubble, it is charming. The interior is less eye-catching. In the past, it was possible to climb to the top of the campanile for a magnificent view of the town's surroundings. Opening times vary.
