MOTHER OF GOD CHURCH
Former Armenian church transformed into an Orthodox church, easily recognized by the bell tower on its roof.
Imposing, she's Sourami's tallest. It is an ancient Armenian church (16th-17th centuries), transformed since the 1990s into an Orthodox church. The Armenians were once numerous but their community has declined. The church is easily recognizable by its bell tower on the roof, covered with grey tiles with blue reflections. Armenian churches are often distinguished from Orthodox churches in this way, with their rather large bell tower, which is separate from the church.
