In the heart of a magnificent site, the Tsoughroughachéni church is well worth a visit. The road is not very visible, but passable in fine weather. The church is perched on the hill opposite the Bolnissi Sion. Dated 1212, it is renowned for the beauty of the ornamentation around its windows and its remarkable slender dome. Note the ancient lintel on the west door. The contrast between the church's sophisticated external façade and the sobriety of its interior is striking.
