COLCHIS FOUNTAIN
This park to the west of Place David Aghmachénébéli is a favorite gathering place for Koutaïsian youth.
It has become one of the symbols of the town of Koutaïssi. Installed in 2011, this majestic fountain dominates the town's main square (at the junction with Avenue David Aghmachénébéli). The history of the region is highlighted here with gilded representations of ritual figurines found in Colchic burial sites (e.g. the deer and two horses overlooking the fountain). Just behind the fountain is the Meskhishvili Theatre. In summer 2024, the park next to the square was undergoing a complete overhaul.
