Monastery in a pretty, peaceful setting housing a cruciform church with a beautiful allure and blue roofs.
Beautifully situated on the Rioni, this 18th-century church, with its blue roofs and cruciform shape, stands out in the landscape. It was built by architect Avtandil Choulavreli on commission from Prince Rostom of Ratcha. It is nicknamed the Church of the Mother of God of Barakoni. Its exterior walls are adorned with goldsmith's work. A visit to the church is a nice stop on the road, in a pretty and peaceful setting. It is sometimes referred to as the little "Svétitskhovéli", named after the magnificent Mtskheta Cathedral.
