With a capacity of 35,630 spectators, this stadium (Stadion Asim Ferhatović Hase) is the largest in the country. Dating from 1947, it was rebuilt for the 1984 Winter Olympics. Classified only as a UEFA Category 2 stadium, it has been named after Asim "Hase" Ferhatović (1933-1987), a 1960s striker for FK Sarajevo, the resident soccer club, since 2004. It hosted up to 70,000 people in 1997 for a concert by the band U2 and later a celebration by Pope John Paul II.
