KONAK DE BISTRIK
Baroque palace used as a residence for distinguished guests such as Tito.
Built in 1869, this baroque palace (Konak na Bistriku) was the seat of the Ottoman and then Austro-Hungarian governors. On June 28, 1914, at 11:00 a.m., the dying Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were brought here after the Latin Bridge bombing. Since 1918, the konak has served as a residence for distinguished guests: Tito slept here several times and, after the Yugoslav wars, it hosted the first official meeting between the leaders of Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina on July 15, 2002.
