The richest Islamic library in the Balkans, with 120,000 books and a museum with seven sections on Islam.
Founded in 1537, this library (Gazi Husrev-Begova Biblioteka) houses a museum with seven sections on Islam in Bosnia-Herzegovina: calligraphy, time-measuring techniques, great theologians, mosques and tekkés, pilgrimage to Mecca, daily life of Muslims (furniture, prayer rugs, traditional clothing) and inscriptions (monuments, tombs, fountains). After those of Istanbul, it is the richest Islamic library of the Balkans (120 000 works).
