SVRZO HOUSE
One of the best-preserved houses in the country, it has been restored and is now part of the Sarajevo Museum.
With its woodwork, cobbled courtyards, precious furnishings and a thousand and one nooks and crannies, this Ottoman-period house (Svrzina Kuća) is one of the best preserved in the country. Dating from the early 16th century, it was remodeled after the raid of Eugene of Savoy in 1697. It belonged to the wealthy Bosnian family of Glođo and passed by marriage to that of Svrzo, in 1848. Restored in 2005, it is part of the Sarajevo Museum, which occupies five sites in the old town. Note in particular the kahveodžak, a room dedicated solely to the preparation of coffee.
