DESPIĆ HOUSE
House restored in 2005 benefiting from a rich interior recreated with furniture and objects belonging to the Despić family.
Built from the seventeenth century, this house (Despića Kuća) is part of the Sarajevo Museum, which occupies five sites in the old town. It belonged to the Despić family, rich Bosnian-Serb merchants who donated it to the municipality. Restored in 2005, it features a rich late 19th century interior reconstructed from furniture and objects that belonged to the family. The decoration shows both Viennese and Ottoman influences. In the 19th century, the first theatrical performances in Sarajevo were held here in private.
