SARAJEVO CONTEMPORARY ART CENTRE
The Centre of Contemporary Art was born in 1996 to help contemporary art in Bosnia and promote creation. Its goal is to bring new generations of artists to contemporary art and, above all, to new forms of expression such as video and avant-garde techniques.
Housed in the Academy of Fine Arts, which has been in existence for 30 years and does not teach new techniques and artistic expressions, the SCCA is trying to raise the awareness of young generations in contemporary art. It has an information and documentation fund (books, videos, CD-Roms) but not collections as such. In spite of everything, exhibitions are organised regularly and actions in support of young artists. Meetings are organized around contemporary art. The centre also organizes the Insert festival (videos and short films) and produces videos from Bosnian and European artists.
In short, if you are an artist in the soul, go to the top floor of the Academy of Fine Arts under the Cupola.
