ARS AEVI
Museum of contemporary art featuring works by major artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joseph Beuys, Daniel Buren and Anish Kapoor.
Housed within the Vijećnica since 2019, this contemporary art museum was established in 1992 by Bosnian artists as an "act of resistance" to the war. Its name ("art of the time" in Latin) is a partial anagram of "Sarajevo". Thanks to donations, it has works by major artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joseph Beuys, Daniel Buren and Anish Kapoor, but it has been awaiting a building designed by Renzo Piano since 2012. This is to be built behind the Historical Museum, opposite the Ars Aevi footbridge designed by the Italian architect.
