BIG ALLEY
A long avenue ideal for a morning jog, popular with Sarajevans at weekends on foot, by horse-drawn carriage or Rosalie.
This "great alley" (Velika Aleja) is the most majestic promenade in the country. It is a pedestrian walkway lined with about 3,000 plane and chestnut trees and stretches for 3.5 km, connecting the spa area of Ilidža to the Bosna springs. Created by the Austro-Hungarians between 1888 and 1892, the path first serves a few elegant villas and restaurants, then it goes into a wilder nature for 2 km. Perfect for a morning jog in the fresh air, the place is very frequented by Sarajevans on weekends on foot, by carriage or by rosalie (pedal car).
